6 of the Best Boutique Hotels in Denver for Your Next Getaway

Facebook

Boutique hotels are great at infusing personality into a hotel stay, whether it’s through gorgeous design or thoughtful amenities and activities that make your staycation or vacation one for the books. In a city like Denver, where neighborhoods have distinct personalities of their own, it makes sense that the hotel scene would follow suit.

From a reimagined Queen Anne mansion with Western charm to a striking biophilic newcomer inspired by Colorado’s Aspen trees, Denver’s boutique hotels are anything but formulaic. Here’s six of Denver’s very best boutique hotels for a memorable stay.

Urban Cowboy

Once a swanky Queen Anne-style mansion built for a silk hat maker, Urban Cowboy today is a high-design hangout where you can hang your own hat, slink into a giant copper soaking tub (each room has one) and then swaddle up in a Pendleton robe for a cozy night in.

Co-founder Lyon Porter sourced antiques from shops along South Broadway, the Brass Armadillo, and stores in Fort Collins, and other vintage shopping goldmines around the country, to give the 16-room boutique a cowboy-cool look and feel. Each room has its own unique pattern of hand stamped wallpaper and the walls in common spaces are burgundy, a nod to Colorado (which means colored red in Spanish).

Halcyon, a Hotel in Cherry Creek

Cherry Creek is Denver’s rich aunt. The upscale neighborhood is stylish, sophisticated, and always up on the latest trend, and it’s also brimming with high-end boutiques and home stores, day spas, and some fantastic restaurants. Don’t miss buzzed-about new spots like Le Colonial, serving French-Vietnamese cuisine, or Alteño, the latest from Michelin-starred chef Johnny Curiel.

But Cherry Creek isn’t just posh; it’s also one of Denver’s most fun hangouts. A perfect example is Halcyon, a boutique hotel that strikes the just-right balance of luxury with playfulness. Guests can borrow scooters, vinyl records for in-room turntables, and games from the hotel’s gear garage.

The rooftop features a stunning pool with rentable cabanas in the summer, and transforms into a chic ice-skating rink with a cozy chalet vibe come winter. The hotel is also home to Rare Bird, a seasonal rooftop bar with wood-fired dishes (including a Colorado pizza topped with green chile). During your stay, you’ll also want to suss out how to get a password to B&GC, a subterranean speakeasy.

The Catbird

Forget any preconceived notions you have about extended-stay hotels. Located in the arty RiNo neighborhood, The Catbird is designed for those who are popping into town for a night or two as well as those who are extending their stay in the Mile High City. It’s the kind of place that’ll make you feel right at home—from the plant-filled lobby to the pull-down projector screens for movies in bed to the convivial rooftop bar plus modern work-from-anywhere features that will help you focus on work when you need to.

Ahead of the summer 2025 season, The Catbird is debuting Rook, a rooftop clubhouse with “pool parties” (of the billiards variety), midnight chess tournaments, board game showdowns and vinyl DJs spinning obscure jazz and dance tracks.

Other hotel amenities include rooftop hot tubs and hammocks, a game room with rentable bikes, Vespa scooters, board games, and for business travelers and digital nomads, there’s “Zoom Rooms” and “Den workspaces.”

The Ramble Hotel

Design lovers will fancy a stay at The Ramble Hotel, which blends old-world elegance with modern amenities. Inspired by the refined French salons of the 17th century that acted as “third places” inspiring community, this 50-key stay is moody in the best of ways—velvet sofas, deep jewel tones, leather furniture, glam chandeliers and globe sconces, and Persian rugs create a space that’s as cozy as it is camera-ready.

Beyond the beautifully curated interiors, The Ramble places you right in the middle of RiNo’s food and drink scene. Just steps from the hotel, you’ll find breweries and jazz bars, as well as notable restaurants. Check out Uchi, a top Denver sushi spot, and Super Mega Bien, where Latin-inspired dishes arrive dim sum-style. Across the street from the hotel, Cart-Driver fires up wood-fired pizzas and slings fresh-shucked oysters.

Back at the hotel, enjoy a nightcap at Death & Co., the acclaimed cocktail bar that doubles as The Ramble’s lobby or slip away to The Garden, which has a “Wish You Were Here” sign and floral mural and serves a popular frozen espresso martini.

The Maven

A luxury boutique hotel located in LoDo, The Maven practically doubles as an art museum with its collection of 700 pieces—paintings, sculptures, photographs—all sourced from Colorado artists. You’ll get a sense of how special the space is when you walk into the lobby and see a massive, 500-pound hand statue that’s been crafted with reclaimed wood and is suspended from the ceiling.

The hotel’s 172 rooms have urban loft feels. Baseball fans should slide into the Diamond Suite, which comes with a corner balcony view of Coors Field and comes with a deep soaking tub. Guests can upgrade their stay with amenities like a eucalyptus bouquet from a local florist for a spa-like shower experience or an arty amentinty like a caricature of your dog left in your room.

The hotel anchors The Dairy Block, which is a microdistrict with a food hall (The Milk Market), and a fun alley lined with boutiques, bars, and restaurants. Start your crawl at Poka Lola, the lobby-level bar that opens up to the alley and that’s modeled after a mid-century soda shop with seasonal drinks and craft cocktails, but in shot form.

The Populus

A newcomer to the Denver hotel scene, The Populus, a 265-room hotel, is receiving lots of fanfare, including landing on Time’s list of the 50 Best Places in the World, taking note of all the biophilic features like bird songs that were recorded in Rocky Mountain National Park and that provide the melody in the elevator.

Perhaps the most striking design feature though is the building itself, which architecture firm Studio Gang intended to mimic the trunk of an Aspen tree with windows acting like the eyes. The interiors team, Wildman Chalmers Design, focused on warm earth tones and natural materials and guests can cocoon up in the windows and enjoy some of the famed Colorado sunshine that comes pouring in.

For dinner, head to the rooftop for a memorable meal at Stellar Jay, which features live-fire cuisine and an outdoor terrace with views of downtown and the Rocky Mountains. Pasque is an all-day dining spot with dishes that rotate with the seasons. As a commitment to sustainability, not only do both of the restaurants source from farm partners but they also make use of an onsite biodigester that keeps food waste out of landfills, instead turning into compost that can then be used at local farms.
