Adventure Time Bar Turns Cocktail Hour Into a Fully Immersive Escape

In a city known for its craft beer pedigree and increasingly sophisticated cocktail scene, a new bar in Baker is pushing the boundaries of what going out for a drink can be.

Adventure Time Bar, which opened this month on South Broadway, is Denver’s first rotating-themed cocktail bar—an immersive, ticketed experience that transports guests to a different world.

Each 90-minute seating is anchored by a fully realized theme that influences everything from the room’s design and soundtrack to the glassware, garnishes, and techniques behind the bar.

The debut theme, Neon City, drops guests into a futuristic, cyberpunk-inspired landscape filled with glowing plasma walls, holographic accents and electric-blue lighting that makes it feel like you’re having happy hour at a film set rather than a neighborhood bar.

Behind the project are husband-and-wife duo Sam Wood and Laura Wood, whose combined backgrounds in high-level cocktail programs and immersive entertainment shape the bar’s distinctive approach.

Sam brings nearly two decades of bartending experience, including launching and operating themed concepts and leading award-winning cocktail programs across the country. Laura, a Colorado native with a decade in the entertainment industry, specializes in storytelling and experiential design—skills that translate seamlessly into building Adventure Time Bar’s immersive environs.

“Adventure Time Bar is about creating a true escape,” Sam says. “Every theme is a brand-new adventure. That sense of wonder extends to every detail, from the music and design to what’s in your glass. The cocktails don’t just complement the world, they’re central to the story.”

That philosophy is immediately apparent in Neon City. Drawing inspiration from iconic sci-fi works like Blade Runner, Akira and The Matrix, the space is immersive without feeling overwhelming. Interactive details invite guests to explore the room, while a custom-curated playlist reinforces the mood.

The Woods partnered with Pro Vibes Construction—owned by Laura’s brother and sister-in-law—to bring the vision to life, making the buildout a family affair as well as a creative one.

While the setting is theatrical, the cocktail program is serious and technique-driven. Adventure Time Bar leans heavily into modern cocktail methods—such as centrifugal clarification, forced carbonation, molecular manipulation and flash freezing—while keeping flavors approachable and grounded in nostalgia.

The result is a menu that feels playful and imaginative without sacrificing balance or drinkability.

Standout cocktails from the Neon City menu include the Tinfoil Unicorn, a tropical, boozy riff on halo halo; Liquid Lace, a crystal-clear interpretation of an espresso martini; and the Edge Rummer, a macadamia nut and curry-spiced take on a Painkiller.

Other drinks blur the line between cocktail and culinary experiment. The Corpo-tini, for example, reimagines a dirty martini through the lens of French onion soup, incorporating buttermilk-clarified, bouillon-washed vodka; savory herb vermouth; onion caramel; torched brioche foam; and a Parmesan tuile.

For guests who want something even more unexpected, Lucy’s Dream arrives as a futuristic spin on a Ramos Gin Fizz—force-flash frozen with liquid nitrogen and served on a plate with a knife and fork.

Meanwhile, the Atom Smashr channels boozy Dippin’ Dots, transforming a classic Last Word cocktail into frozen pearls eaten with a spoon.

And Adventure Time Bar doesn’t reserve its creativity only for alcohol. The menu is designed to be convertible, with many drinks available in zero-proof versions made with functional botanicals and non-alcoholic spirits.

“Every drink is meant to spark joy and surprise,” Laura says. “We love playing with nostalgia—those familiar flavors and memories—but presenting them in a way that feels completely new.”

That sense of intention extends to the bar’s format. Tickets are required for entry, and each reservation includes a welcome cocktail, a souvenir and 90 minutes of uninterrupted immersion.

The timed experience ensures the room never feels overcrowded and allows guests to fully engage with the theme, making each visitor the “main character” of their own adventure.

Adventure Time Bar is open Thursday through Saturday, with 6 and 8 p.m. seatings on Thursdays and an additional 10 p.m. seating on Fridays and Saturdays. Each theme will run for a limited time before being replaced with an entirely new world, giving locals a reason to return again and again.
