9 of the Best Yoga Studios in Denver

Facebook

Denver is known for its exceptional prioritization of health and wellness—so it’s only fitting the community comes together to seek this sense of belonging both spiritually and physically through the practice of yoga. From donation-based studios to exceptional one-of-a-kind classes in unparalleled locations, here’s a snapshot of some of the best studios and yoga experiences across the Mile High City.

The River Yoga

The River Yoga is a local sanctuary that hosts both heated and unheated class offerings. There are three locations (Five Points, Sunnyside, Golden Triangle), each with a mission aimed at cultivating a space for community members to feel like they have a third space away from home, to “belong.” The River Yoga is accepting of students of all backgrounds and skill levels, and values of loving kindness and growth—making their spaces feel like a shelter from any urban storm. White walls make the spaces feel clean and bright, and inspiring works of art decorate the walls and ceilings, creating an artistic mood within the studio.

Black Swan Yoga

Featuring two locations (Capitol Hill and South Broadway), Black Swan Yoga’s student-focused mission is to offer a safe, uplifting and accessible place for the Denver yoga community. This studio does sell memberships, but also wants to create a space where the yogic lifestyle is affordable and available to everyone—and also hosts the unique opportunity for students to pay on a donation-based drop-in basis. Exposed brick walls and plenty of natural light make the spaces feel vibrant and energetic.

Samadhi Yoga Sangha

Samadhi Yoga Sangha is an inclusive, spiritually inspiring studio in Uptown that has been a part of the Denver yoga community for more than two decades. It reopened under new ownership in 2021 with a mission to inspire a community of members who are fully present in mind, body and aura while in class and beyond the mat. Through the guidance of this community, students can experience daily yoga classes, workshops, teacher training and retreats. Nestled between the durable strength of hardwood floors below and the spiritual strength of prayer flags above, practicing yogis feel safe and nurtured as they strengthen their bodies and minds through yogic practice.

RiNo Yoga Social

The RiNo Yoga Social space isn’t a traditional yoga studio—it’s a shared creative space used by individual instructors, who teach their own movement and medication classes on their own schedule. All types of classes are hosted here—from meditation to restorative Yin-style offerings, to powerful Vinyasa variations and everything in between. Inside the UV-activated space, there are wall-to-wall padded floors, bohemian-feeling exposed brick walls and all the necessary equipment needed to enjoy a full yogic experience, including bolsters, straps, blocks and blankets.

Yoga Box

Yoga Box is an award-winning national yoga studio chain that hosts multiple locations around the Denver area, including spots in the Highlands neighborhood, Capitol Hill, Cherry Creek, Rino, and South Broadway. Here, students can sign up for a variety of classes ranging from heated vinyasa flows to non-heated restorative experiences in a consistent setting. There are many Yoga Box classes across the U.S. in this franchise, but Denver is actually home to two of the brand’s co-founders—giving it a special connection to the Mile High City.

Rooted Heart Yoga and Wellness

This inclusive Capitol Hill-based yoga studio is known as “part boutique yoga studio, part wellness center.” Rooted Heart Yoga and Wellness has a cap of 16 students per class, ensuring each session is intimate and inspiring to students’ inner selves. The studio houses multiple wellness practitioners with services ranging from physical to mental health—including integrative massage, sound therapy and acupuncture, among other specialties. Hardwood studio floors and calming, artistic interior decor, including plenty of lush plants, give the space a sense of vitality and inspire visitors to sink into a deep calming breath.

Karma Yoga Center

Karma Yoga Center focuses on Bhakti which means “devotion of the heart.” This all-level, uplifting studio is nestled into an unassuming spot at the top of a set of stairs on Denver’s South Pearl Street. The spiritual space was established more than a decade ago and aims to serve as an oasis for those seeking a healing, welcoming community gathering place. Karma feels like a one-of-a-kind, cozy, eclectic, locally owned and operated studio hosting a range of class types and workshop offerings such as astrology, sound healing and energy work, among other spiritual experiences.

Yoga Center of Denver

This traditional yoga space feels like a friendly neighborhood place to gather and is rooted in the structured teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar, who believed yoga could be for everyone. Yoga Center of Denver originally opened in 2001, and has since transformed its offerings under new ownership throughout the past few years today while maintaining the same internal energy of vitality and light. Today, community members can experience a wide range of classes and activities for all levels and ages (including kids’ aerial yoga and prenatal classes).

CorePower

This nationally recognized brand was born and bred in Denver, today hosting dozens of studios around the Denver metro area. CorePower is a convenient and consistent place to connect internally through a range of regimented classes of varying levels, as well as a “yoga sculpt” class type that blends the concepts of high-intensity training, weightlifting, and restorative yoga practices into one 60-minute complete class package. Here, students can maintain a set course of studies and see the improvement in their practice as they’re guided by teachers who are passionate about the yogic lifestyle, including asanas and spirituality. Those who are interested in a “work for trade” type offering can take advantage of CorePower’s “Studio Experience Team” program, in which yogis can work for a specific studio for 1.5 hours a week ensuring their home studio is clean and cared for, in exchange for a reduced membership price (and dedicated community).

Bonus: Yoga on the Rocks

Combining the spiritual experience of simply spending time at Red Rocks with the practice of yoga, this series of classes brings together hundreds of yogis for an unparalleled community class on select Saturday mornings during the summer. The fresh air and natural environment of the outdoors combined with the special air of togetherness at the amphitheater inspires a rare feeling of complete bliss—don’t miss Yoga on the Rocks if you’re in the city during the warmer months.
