Get Lost in These Fun Corn Mazes Near Denver

Facebook

Do you like long walks … on a farm? Lost in a labyrinth of corn stalks? Perhaps even underneath the glow of the moonlight?

Every autumn, farms turn into all-out fall funplexes, getting creative with how they sculpt their cornfields, turning them into tricky mazes.

Ready to get lost? Read on for six corn mazes close to Denver.

Anderson Farms

Anderson Farms in Erie is home to a 25-acre corn maze with more than eight miles of trails, and the average visitor spends two hours (!) wandering around. At the entrance to the maze, you’re given a map and sent on a mission to find 18 checkpoints, each with a unique hole punch you can use to punch your map.

The corn maze is cut into sasquatch shapes this year (including one of the mythical creatures driving a tractor), though you’d need an aerial view to truly appreciate the full scope of the design. In past years, landscape artists have meticulously trimmed the corn stalks to resemble everything from the Denver skyline to beehives to hot air balloons and dinosaurs. After you find your way out of the maze, you can toast s’mores at a private fire pit, watch a pumpkin cannon launch gourds or take a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch. It’s fall fun at its finest on this farm, which also is home to the Terror in the Corn Haunted House and a massive pumpkin patch with 70 varieties of pumpkins, squash, and gourds.

Fall Festival runs from Sept. 25 to Nov. 2. Timed entry tickets are $17 Monday through Thursday and $29 Friday through Sunday. Kids 3 and under are free. The corn maze is included in the cost of entry. 6728 County Rd 3 1/4, Erie, CO 80516

Hankins Farms

An hour outside of Denver, this Weld County family farm has been around for more than 100 years. After picking out pumpkins, decorative corn and cornstalk bundles to haul home, try navigating the corn mazes. The farm went with two themes this year: “Farm Scene Investigation” and “Monster Mystery.”

The corn maze and pumpkin patch at Hankins Farms is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. Tickets are $15. 26745 Weld County Rd 17, Johnstown, CO 80534

Mile High Farms

Mile High Farms in Bennett turns its fields into artistic masterpieces in the fall.

This year the corn maze mimics a dragon’s lair. Past corn maze designs have ranged from a witch to a unicorn to a pumpkin-eating dinosaur. The farm also sets up a mini maze for little kids to meander through.

The farm is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 28 through Oct. 27. Tickets cost $19 for adults, $16 for seniors, and $14 for kids age 5 to 12. Kids age 4 and under are free. Both the large corn maze and the mini maze are included in the cost of admission. 11 Cavanaugh Road, Bennett, CO 8010211 Cavanaugh Rd, Bennett, CO 80102

Chatfield Farms went with a Colorado wildlife theme for its corn maze this year and you can get a good glimpse of the mountain lions, moose, and bears from a 15-foot-tall bridge. The seven-acre maze has twists, turns and plenty of dead ends to get you turned around.

Tickets are required for the corn maze, which is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays to Sundays from now to Oct. 27. Tickets are $18 for adults; $16 for seniors; $12 for children ages 3-15; and free admission for children 2 and younger. Members get $2 discounts on tickets. 8500 W Deer Creek Canyon Road Littleton, CO 80128

Fritzler Farm Park

Every fall, Fritzler Farm Park fans await the reveal of the corn maze design. This season’s theme is all about the Denver Broncos. (Last year’s was a tribute to country singer Reba McEntire).

The farm park also has a pumpkin wall that makes for great family photo backdrops. For a fun October night out, head to the farm’s beer garden, then make your way through the haunted “Scream Acres.” On Friday nights in October, the farm puts on a fireworks show, too.

Fritzler Farm Park is open Fridays through Sundays through the rest of October. Tickets start at $24.95 and include admission to the corn mazes. 20861 Co. Rd 33, La Salle, CO 80645

Maize in the City

Your phone won’t help you out with turn-by-turn navigation when you’re in the corn maze at Maize in the City. But bring it anyway—each checkpoint has a corresponding trivia question centered on corn, with questions like “how many cobs of corn does each plant produce” and you can play the game on your phone. Answer the questions right, and you’ll get some directional hints.

Kids can navigate a mini maze that farmers cut in a shorter corn field.

See the calendar for farm hours. Entry is free and each attraction has an a la carte price. 10451 McKay Road, Thornton, CO 80233
