MoodSwing Redefines the ‘Third Space’ in Denver’s Elyria Swansea Neighborhood

It’s no secret that Denverites love to connect over fun, food and physical activity—and this winter, east Denver’s newest social hub is bringing all that together (and more) under one very large roof.

MoodSwing, which opened this month in the Elyria Swansea neighborhood, offers 43,000 square feet of space to eat, drink and play pickleball, but perhaps more importantly, it’s an ambitious third space serving up all-day amenities for residents in and around the city’s urban core.

Located at 3625 East 48th Avenue, MoodSwing occupies an adaptive reuse building originally constructed as a plumbing supply warehouse in the 1950s.

After a two-year renovation, the space has been transformed into a multifaceted gathering space anchored by pickleball but intentionally designed to welcome everyone, racket in hand or not.

“Moodswing is where your interests overlap with others’,” says co-founder Giovanni Leone. “No matter what you’re into, there’s something here for you—pet adoption events, Shrek-themed bands, singles speed-dating, pickleball and outdoor yoga. If you can imagine it, we’ll host it.”

At its core, Moodswing is built around flexibility. Six indoor pickleball courts, four heated and covered outdoor courts and two additional uncovered courts make it one of the largest pickleball destinations in the city—especially considering the additional 33,000-square-foot patio (Denver’s biggest to date).

But the space also includes lounges, co-working spaces, performance stages, bars and dining areas that shift throughout the day as the mood—and crowd—changes.

The design details reinforce that sense of curiosity and movement. The team took inspiration from the building’s original sawtooth roof, layering in reclaimed elements throughout the space.

Highlights include stained-glass installations, terrazzo bar countertops, salvaged boxcar flooring and railroad treads incorporated into the mezzanine stairs, and a dramatic Shou Sugi Ban–inspired, burnt-wood feature wall hovering above the main bar. Pops of color, vintage references and thoughtful lighting soften the industrial scale, creating a space that feels both expansive and inviting.

Moodswing opens daily at 8 a.m., intentionally serving the neighborhood from morning to night. Early hours focus on coffee and co-working, and guests can grab espresso drinks, specialty lattes, and pastries until 3 p.m., while settling into lounges equipped with high-speed internet, meeting tables and casual workspaces.

As the day unfolds, the culinary program takes center stage. Breakfast burritos and overnight oats from Uptown & Humboldt, as well as house-made pastries, round out the morning offerings, while the evening lineup encourages lingering and sharing.

Developed by Nicholas Dalton, chef and co-founder of Brasserie Brixton, the menu is anchored by brick-oven-fired pizzas, complemented by shareable dishes like rosemary white bean dip, crispy Calabrian honey wings and nonna-style Italian meatballs.

The beverage program mirrors that same all-day approach. In addition to coffee, Moodswing offers a full bar featuring beer, wine, cocktails and thoughtfully developed non-alcoholic options.

For pickleball enthusiasts, Moodswing aims to be both accessible and elevated, welcoming seasoned players alongside the simply curious. Dedicated “park play” courts allow guests to jump into games with random people, while others are available to rent from $20 to $30 per hour (paddles and balls included).

Beginners can also book lessons with certified coaches or practice drills using a training machine.

League options are available three nights per week, with plans for future in-house tournaments and themed events—think DJ pickleball parties, costumed Halloween rounds and “anything but a paddle” nights.

Moodswing also launched two membership options and a punch pass designed for frequent players, ranging from daily pickleball access to weekly court time, paired with branded merchandise and exclusive perks.

Beyond daily programming, Moodswing is built to host events of all sizes, with its various community spaces and quirky lounge areas, such as the central, 1960s-inspired “conversation pit.”

Elsewhere, the space opens into larger zones outfitted with independent sound systems, dart boards and serving stations, making it easy to host private parties, corporate events, concerts and community celebrations without disrupting other areas.

Ultimately, what sets Moodswing apart isn’t just its scale or amenities—it’s the idea that a single space can be so many things at once.

Whether you’re stopping in for a morning latte, a mid-day meeting, an evening match or a late-night concert, Moodswing invites you to show up, enjoy yourself, and stay as long as you like.
